"SKIF" - A Program of the Belarusian-Russian Union State
The supercomputers family SKIF – the result of Russian-Belarusian joint program which was completed in 2004.
The program result is the creation of cluster supercomputers with high performance from hundred GFlops till several Tflops. The supercomputers were used both for software debugging and for the computations in the projects for Russian and Belarusian enterprises and scientific centers.
In the process of program SKIF realization the systems software and language facilities were developed, personnel training and retraining was organized, several pilot complexes of applied hard-software were designed:
In the frame of SKIF program the high speed access to the resources connected to telecommunication network of the National academy of Sciences of Belarus BAS-NET from scientific networks of Russia is organized through pan European scientific network GEANT. The connection to GEANT is on the base of fiber-optic transmission system with 2 Mb/sec.
One of the most important results of the SKIF program is the State Supercomputer Multi-Access Center with remote access to computing resources that was organized in the United Institute of Informatics Problems, National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
